After a 6 year break, the Victoria’s Secret fashion show returned, and many are now debating if it has been a good return.
Since it was canceled in 2019 for many reasons, including the fact that it was not very inclusive and diverse, many people on the Internet had commented about this issue, and within this comeback, it was promised to make a revolutionary change, and that the brand would become more inclusive on all aspects. Then in 2023, there was a fashion show for the launch of an adaptive intimate line, and featured models of all height, weight and different ethnicities, including for the first time ever people with physical disabilities.
However, the public opinion was very divided between people who actually wanted the original fashion runway, with all the “og” models, and those who actually wanted a change in the industry. In this 2024 show, many famous models walked down the runway, such as Adriana Lima, Ashley Graham, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Tyra Banks and many other…
The show featured famous singers Cher, Tyla and Lisa, that sang along with the models walking down the runway. This year’s fashion show featured many plus size models, and that showed part of the change that people have been asking for years and years.
Overall it was a good change, but there’s a long way ahead for the fashion industry to be 100% inclusive.
