Your twenties are a time to grab your bags and go but if you don’t have a group to go with this can seem daunting. Traveling alone as a woman has its pros and cons but it’s not as frightening as it may appear.
Have an Alarm
Having a keyring alarm close to hand that will let off a deafening sound can make anyone feel a bit safer traveling alone. You can pick one up on Amazon cheap or once you get abroad you can buy pepper spray etc.
Choose the Right Accommodation
Location and online reviews are vital when choosing the right place to stay while traveling alone. Most hostels offer single-sex dorm rooms and Trip Advisor are now legally obliged to advertise if there have been any sexual assault accusations at a location. You should do your research before you book a room anywhere or better yet get recommendations from your female friends.
Be Prepared
Always have a portable charger in case your phone dies. There is nothing worse than being lost in another country with no way to contact anyone. A portable charger is a lifesaver when Google maps or an Uber is needed.
Make Smart Decisions
Although it would be great if girls could get as drunk as they want without any outside repercussions other than the norm. This isn’t the world we live in, so be aware of your surroundings and location of what you’re drinking at all times. It is always better to be safe than sorry.
If You Get Lonely
If you get homesick or lonely on your travels, hostels are a great way to meet people. A quick Google search will point you in the right direction of what you can get involved in wherever you are.
