College is back on, and some of you may be frightened of starting new experiences.

A time of new beginnings can also bring fear, but don’t let that stop you!

Today I will give you tips on how to make new friends in your first week.

First of all, Freshers’ Week marks the beginning of college life, a time when students celebrate the start of the new academic year. Throughout the week, universities host a variety of events, often centered around campus life and the different student societies.

One of my first pieces of advice is to look into these societies and join the ones that are intriguing to you.

Most societies organise events with food and drinks, offering a chance to get to know their members better. In addition to participating in these activities, there’s also plenty of content available online.

Another great option is joining a sports team. Many universities offer a wide range of sports that you can take up as extracurricular activities. Through this, you’ll meet people who share your interests, making it easy to connect and form lasting friendships!

Every year, Freshers’ Week is the prime time for everyone to go out and socialise! Each night, different clubs host events welcoming all college students. If nightlife isn’t your thing, don’t worry! There are plenty of daytime events on campus, offering fun activities and opportunities to meet new people during the afternoons as well.

You should be open and have conversations, say yes to invitations and hang out in common areas, such as study places, so you can make conversation!

Every student is in the same position, so everyone will be open to chatting!
