They say there are 5 love languages; words of affirmation, quality time, physical touch, gift giving, and acts of service. Although, the act of making a playlist for someone is qucikly paving it’s way as a 6th.
Here are 5 tips for making a playlist for someone.
- Keep the person you’re making the playlist for at the center of it-make sure to include some of their favourite genres and artists regardless if you like them or not. It will show you’ve taken the time to remember important details about them.
- Include songs that have important connections-have you ever danced with this person? Do you remember a song playing during an important moment together? Include these in the playlist so that the playlist can be used to reflect on the memories you have together.
- Don’t just add hits to the playlist-it’s good to include the person’s favourite artists but you also want the playlist to be an opportunity for them to discover new music. Try find less popular songs you think they might enjoy.
- Add a piece of yourself-the playlist is intended for someone else but is representative of your relationship. Include a few of your favourite artists and songs that you think they will enjoy too.
- Consider the order-this isn’t always important but can be if you’re trying to tell a story or communicate some sort of message via the playlist. Listen through the songs you’ve added and think if you’d like to rearrange the order before sharing the playlist.
