Var was also once again the center of attention. In all fairness, it may be a mess, but it also makes things more exciting. France also beat Brazil 2-1 after an extra time goal from the aptly named Amandine Henry.

In the Copa America Brazil thumped Peru by 5 goals to nil with Roberto Firmino and Willian among the goalscorers. Venezuela beat Bolivia 3-1, Argentina beat 2022 world cup hosts Qatar while Colombia beat Paraguay 1-0. Favourites Brazil will play Paraguay in the next round, It’s Venezuela against the so far unconvincing Argentina, Columbia face Chile and its Uruguay vs Peru. There seems to be non stop football in some form at the moment with the European Championships ongoing, along with the Women’s World Cup, The Copa America and the Africa Cup of Nations. In the Euros for youngsters, Italy beat 10 man Belgium by 3 goals to nil, Spain battered poor Poland, Denmark were comfortable winners over Serbia while Austria and Germany played out a 1-1 draw, all of which were on Saturday. On Sunday, The already eliminated Croatia and England drew 3-3 while Romania and France drew 0-0 with both teams progressing.

Finally, in the Africa Cup of Nations, Algeria beat Kenya 2-0 and Senegal beat Tanzania by the same scoreline while elsewhere there were wins for Morocco, Nigeria, Uganda,Egypt and Mali while Tunisia and Angola along with Guniea and Madagascar shared the points.

In the GAA Football All Ireland Senior Championship Kildare, Tyrone and Westmeath were among the winners while in the Leinster GAA Football Senior Championship Dublin blew Meath away, winning by 1-17 to the solitary 4 points.
