In what looks like the tube transport thing from the Futurama opening sequence, videos have emerged of a similar mechanism used for transporting fish over dams safely. The videos shows fish being thrust into small, narrow tubes that then shoot the fish across a piece of land or dam and back into water without so much as a scratch.
The videos have gone viral and while it’s obviously a very positive thing that we are finally making steps in terms of animal welfare, the image of the fish whizzing through the tube is quite hilarious.
It also looks like great craic in fairness and much better than you’d get in any human water park. Those fish get everything: Finding Nemo, self cleaning aquariums and now this. If someone invents a pressure tube like this for people, then they’d make an absolute fortune and i’d be one of the first people to put my self forward to try it out.
