With 45 school-shootings and counting having occurred in the US this year, President Obama has been forced to reevaluate the amount of time that he has allocated to this particular issue.
White House officials have estimated that the outgoing president has personally spent in excess of 200 hours dealing with school-shootings this year alone. With dozens more shootings expected to take place before he leaves office on the 20th of January 2017, this is not a realistically sustainable time-management strategy.
It is for this reason that Obama has unveiled a new speech that is to be referred to for all future shootings during his presidency.
Fellow Americans,
I was saddened to hear about the recent shooting at your local school. The number of victims and families affected by this recent tragedy is devastating/too high/heartbreaking/relatively low in comparison to other recent shootings in your area.
I want to assure you that the person/people responsible for this heinous act will be brought to justice.
[Blue States]: The Second Amendment states that the right of citizens to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, but ask yourselves this: does that right fundamentally exist, or is gun ownership not a right, but a privilege?
[Red States]: The Second Amendment states that the right of citizens to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed, but ask yourselves this: does that go far enough? Or should the citizens of this nation be obliged to carry firearms? For in a world where everyone has guns, no one has the upper-hand.
On behalf of myself, the government, and the American people, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the families of the victims, those who survived, and to the entire community of [Community Name], [State Name].
We may have more school-shootings than any other nation on Earth, but at over 1%, we also have the highest incarceration rate on Earth, which demonstrates the seriousness with which we are addressing this issue.
On that note, I would like to leave you with this food for thought: is it because of the high number of school-shootings in this country that we have been dragged down? Or is it because we have been counting the shootings that happen, when we should be counting those that don’t?
My deepest condolences/All the best/Go [Local Sports Team]!
B.
This is in fact the 994th mass shooting in the U.S. in the last 3 years, so preparations are now being made for the 1,000th, which the CIA says should take place before Christmas.
