Sally Rooney was born in Castlebar, County Mayo, on the 20th of February, 1991. Rooney is an activist when it comes to feminism, Marxism, and socialism. Rooney is a well-known, award-winning fiction author and screenwriter who has published four novels: Conversations Between Friends, Normal People, Beautiful World, Where Are You, and Intermezzo.
Conversations Between Friends was written in 2017 and adapted to a TV series in 2022. This novel explores the life of a 21-year-old student, Frances, who is an ambitious author and the revealing of her truth, vulnerable and unexpected love.
Normal People was released in 2018 and adapted in 2020. This story explores two secondary school students, Marianne and Connell, from Sligo. Connell was a very popular jock, while Marianne was a quiet nerd who both had a secret friendship and romantic relationship.
Beautiful World, Where Are You was published in 2021. It follows four young adults who explore friendship, love, and travelling to find a brighter side of life.
Intermezzo was released in 2024. It uncovers two brothers who are grieving the loss of their father while facing opportunities, hopelessness, and longing for new relationships and strength in their darkest times.
