The Nightmare Realm, Ireland’s biggest horror attractions, has announced its return to the RDS from October 4th to November 1st.

Celebrating 10 years facilitating the transition into the spookiest season of the year, the brand new show “The Devil’s Crossroad” won’t disappoint any thrill-seekers. Director of the show Karl O’Connor explains the concept behind this year’s Nightmare realm as based on the “age old fable of meeting the devil at a crossroads to make a deal and of course it never goes to plan“.

What exactly is the Nightmare Realm?

For the uninitiated, scare attractions are a simulation of a horror storyline. Visitors entering into the Nightmare Realm encounter actors that play different characters of the horror plot. Visitors are drawn into the plot by these characters in an interactive story format. Though it’s not for the faint-hearted, if you dare, this will be sure to have your adrenaline pumping!

O’Connor adds that this year’s show will have an added layer of realism to its plot: “Our individual maze storylines are all based on people who made a deal with the devil and are now twisted by the consequences.

What can visitors expect?

In terms of layout, the Nightmare Realm will have three “haunts”. The first, Snuff House 86, is the gothic home of a disturbing and dysfunctional family. Meanwhile, second haunt Hide and Seek Man introduces us to a mysterious character who deals in sick and twisted games – play at your own risk. Last, but not least, is The Settlers. This haunt is the local shop cum petrol station cum funeral home belonging to old hag Nanna Mae. Looks can be deceiving and this old biddy is definitely not to be trusted. She has made a deal with the devil and her son is paying the price. Some say his taste for meat has turned cannibalistic..
