This year’s sponsor of the “Short Story of the Year” award is the award winning Kennys.ie online bookshop. Based in Co Galway, Kennys.ie stocks over 1 million new, used/secondhand and rare books and ships to over 120 countries annually.
With three generations of the Kenny family involved in the running of the business, Kennys.ie has remained an independent bookstore that publisher Máirtín Ó Muilleoir described as going “toe to toe with Amazon.”
Kennys.ie offers a wide variety of books from children’s books to hobbies or interests to, of course, fiction and non-fiction, with thousands of copies available for less than €5. Free delivery to anywhere in Ireland is still available during social-distancing protocols, and deliveries are expected to be carried out between 4-7 business days.
It isn’t just in the business of selling books, Kennys.ie have established their own Kenny Gallery, which showcases contemporary Irish art, specialising in original paintings, sculptures, stained glass and photography from renowned artists around the world. They offer a commissioning service to decorate personal, public or business locations with these pieces.
For students attending third level institutions in the Galway area, Kennys.ie also offer a bookbinding service, ranging from thesis binding to fine leather books. These signature bindings have been given as gifts to dignitaries visiting Ireland with the likes of Pope John Paul II and former US presidents Ronald Regan and Jimmy Carter.
Last year’s winner was Jason Kenneally and we are thrilled to have a business of such prestige supporting this award.
