It was a successful night for Trinity College student Jesse Dolliver at the Smedia Awards 2019 last Thursday at the Aviva Stadium. The European Commission award was awarded to the article which best covered EU affairs. The jury were looking for qualities such as ‘research into and and knowledge demonstrated of chosen topic’ and originality and creativity.
Australian born Jesse is in the final year of an undergraduate degree at Trinity and is the chairperson of both the botanical society and the environmental society. We would like to congratulate Jesse on a very well deserved win and thank her for the work she does for our planet.
RTE newsreader Eileen Dunne was the presenter for the awards on the night and cited spelling and grammar as being an important factor in the judges decision making. It was hugely exciting having such a recognisable face of Irish media at the awards and would like to extend our thanks to Eileen for giving her time. We would also like to express our gratitude to the European Commission for sponsoring our awards and for the important work they do for the media in Ireland.
