The next general election in Ireland is due to take place on the 29th of Novemeber. For many college students this will be the first general election that they are old enough to vote in. It’s important young people use this opportunity to have their voices heard. Make sure you are registered to vote in advance.

If you want to check if you are already registered you can do this at Checktheregister.ie.

You can also register on the same website. You will need the following information:

Eircode

Date of birth

PPS number

*You must apply at least 15 days before an election to be eligible to vote*

After you have registered a polling card will be posted to you. This includes your elector number and will tell you where to vote. You will also need to bring a form of ID with you to the polling station.
