It was a fantastic night for Gabija Gataveckaite as she won the Journalist of the Year Award at the Smedias, a category sponsored by the Irish Examiner. The event took place at the Aviva stadium with nearly 400 people attending.
The Irish Examiner was founded in 1841 and reports on national and international news. Through the platform of the Smedia Awards, the Examiner has always supported young journalists across the country.
The Examiner has been a cornerstone of good quality journalism and a staple of many an Irish household reading for many years. It is regarded as one of the biggest and most successful newspapers in the country.
