Get ready, because the road to the 2019 Smedia Awards has begun!
For the 19th year in a row, we’re once again celebrating the best that students have to offer in journalism, photography, film, TV, radio and more.
Since 2000, the National Student Media Awards has been known throughout Ireland as the ‘Oscars’ of the student media world: a highlight of the year for those looking to showcase their work to both their peers and leading figures in the industry.
Applicants will have their work judged by some of the most respected figures in Irish media, including Irish Independent editor Fionnan Sheahan, Oscar-nominated director Lenny Abrahamson and Will Goodbody from RTE News.
As well as highlighting the future, personalities from today’s media will also appear in the form of presenters, previous famous faces include Marty Morrissey, Teresa Mannion, Eoghan Mcdermott and Dave Fanning.
This year’s awards ceremony will once again be taking place in the Aviva Stadium, Donnybrook on the 19th of April, 2018.
Last year’s awards ceremony was our biggest to date, with 35 categories contested and 35 winners crowned, as well as hundreds of nominees which kept the good vibes going well into the night at the official ‘Smedia’s After-Party’ at Xico, Lower Baggot Street.
Applications will be officially open in the coming weeks. The closing date for this year’s entries will be the 15th of March, 2019.
