Midnight Cowboy – JADE
Featuring an iconic contribution from Mr. Doctor Who himself, as well as writing contributions from the iconic singer-songwriter, RAYE it is safe to say music fans were delivered a banger. This song was surprise released as a gift to her fans for supporting -her previous single and let us just say it was a surprise worth waiting for. The electro-pop track is very much Charli XCX meets Jade. The song is very much tongue and cheek and conveys a level of cockiness and empowerment. What more could you want from a song?
It’s ok, I’m ok – Tate McRae
It’s ok, I’m ok marks as Tate McRae’s return to the music industry after dropping her high-second studio album earlier this year. This song serves as a stand-alone single as McRae experiments with different sounds and themes for her next project. The song features an addictive beat and hook that general music fans are bound to appreciate, this song resonates a super-fun, exhilarating pop song drawing inspiration from the likes of Britney Spears and The Pussycat Dolls. This is one song to remember whether you are a pop music fan or not.
Nobody Knows – Shawn Mendes
After what felt like years, Shawn Mendes is back with a new self-titled album on the way. This song is perfect if you are ever in the mood to listen to sad songs with deep meanings. He discusses the feeling of being so in love with something that you are certain that they are the one until everything crashes. He articulates the feeling that no matter how in love you are with a person, a relationship can fall and break without warning. Shawn Mendes is bringing back the fire and emotion that has been missing as of lately and this only serves as anticipation for what the rest of his return to music will bring.
Because I Love You – Halle
Halle is back better than ever before with her new song “Because I love you.” This song resembles a partner supporting you even at your worst in which Halle captures through the portrayal of a jealous partner which develops because of vulnerability that comes with being in love. If anything, this song embarks Halle on a new pathway, highlighting the vocal ability and talent that the young singer possesses, enhancing the desire for her to become more mainstream. If this is the way that her career is going, then music fans can certainly anticipate catchy future releases from the singer.
Can’t Even Hate You – Cian Ducrot
If you are a fan of the likes of Ed Sheeran, Shawn Mendes, and Dermot Kennedy, then Cian Ducrot is the artist you have just been waiting to discover. His new drop “Can’t Even Hate You” is a heart-wrenching yet beautiful song that captures the feeling of being hurt tremendously by someone, but still being incapable of hating someone as sometimes love is just more powerful than hate. If you like slow songs with beautiful vocals, then you will certainly enjoy this pop ballad.
Bending My Rules – FLO
In anticipation of their debut album dropping this November, FLO have dropped another single to draw us over until we can listen to the entire project later this year. If you are someone who prefers to listen to some heavenly vocals, then this song is the one for you. This R&B meets pop masterpiece skilfully shows their vocal ability as well as telling the story of a girl who usually does not fall into her lover side as easily but when she meets the right person, she is forced to bend her rules for the person she loves capturing the complexities of a relationship.
