As summer is well underway so are summer flings. Here are 3 playlist suggestions to get you through the pining and the what ifs.
What Once Was-Her’s: Sun? Picnics? Icecream dates? This indie song is perfect to get you in a chill and upbeat mood. Afterall, summer flings are meant to be fun. Well.. at the beginning at least.
“I was at the point where all I really wanted was someone. And now I’m still hanging on”
Her’s lyrics perefctly capture how thoughtlessly summer flings begin, yet often turn into something more.
August-Taylor Swift: An absolute classic for summer romances. August belongs to Taylor Swift’s famous Folklore love triangle which consists of James, Betty and August. The song August focuses on the experience of “the other woman” in the love triangle. Hopefully your summer fling does not involve cheating and affairs (if it does get out of there right now. You desreve better!), but either way you probably can relate to Swift’s lyrics.
“August slipped away into a moment in time. ‘Cause it was never mine”
The unfortunate ending of many summer flings; over as quickly as they began, and a lack of a closure.
Swift’s lyrics capture those feelings of uncertainty that even the strongest of bonds can bring.
Casual-Chappell Roan: Casual was only released last year but has certainly proved itself as ideal for summer flings. Casual describes a labeless relationship and the conflictig feelings that arise from it.
“I try to be the chill girl but Honestly, I’m not”
No matter how hard you to try to convince yourself casual just won’t cut it for you. Roan describes the universal experience of wanting more in romantic situations, and the subsequent yearning it leads to.
Summer flings may be fun but enter them at your own risk!
