So recently, I decided to get a piercing, it’s something I’ve always wanted to do but just never bit the bullet and actually did it. Yeah ok I have my ear lobes pierced but I got them done in Claire’s when I was like 10 so that doesn’t really count, does it?
Off I went to the Ink Factory where I met with Cello. They were really nice and we chatted about what I wanted. I decided on an Industrial piercing which is a combination of the inner ear or ear cartilage piercings connected by an individual piece of jewelry, usually a barbell. I’ve seen a lot of people with this done and I really liked it so went for it. Cello explained to me the process and I was ready to go.
Now, I’ve gotten tattoos, two in fact, but the industrial ear piercing was the most painful one out of the bunch! I’m not sure why, maybe its the cartilage in the ear that makes it so painful, who knows! But it got me thinking, which hurts most, tattoos or piercing?
1. Wrist Tattoo.
I have a butterfly on my wrist and I was totally fine during that. But when I chat to other people about theirs, they say its one of the most painful. Pain level: 2/10
2. Back Tattoo
I also have a tattoo on my back ( which was my first one ) and that was painful. Some people get their whole backs tattooed. How do they sit in the chair that long?? Pain level 7/10
3. Tongue Piercing
For some reason, I wouldn’t be tempted to have someone stick a needle in my tongue. Too many horror stories. Pain level: 7/10
4. Lower Back Tattoo
The classic ‘tramp stamp’. Very popular in the 90s and a regret for most people now. Pain level: 8/10
5. Genital Piercing
Genital piercings are definitely the most ‘out there’ and it isn’t surprising that the thought of having a needle down there sometimes makes people cringe. Pain level: WTF
Just remember, pain thresholds are different for everybody so don’t let that put you off getting something done. And I 100% recommend the Ink Factory.
